The Orphan's Piano was a small (8-10 people) team short film, but we managed to punch well above our weight class when it came to our visuals, in part due to the excellent character animation from our team, and in part due to a new technique I made for integrating 2D characters in 3D environments.

For this project, I handled the environments, which were 3D. Most 3D artists work from concept art by another artists, but since I originally got started in my career as an illustrator, I work in 3D like an artist, starting with thumbnails and big blocky shapes, and working my way in to a really lovely 3D environment. It's my preferred method for making concept art.
